Babel or Esprits Inachevés

Installation of thirty candlesticks made of wood from the Archives Nationales.

Symbolizing confusion, the candleholder set
“or Unfinished Spirits” is the story of the destination
of its ancient woods. Generally unused
used after their initial function (carpentry), and therefore
generally doomed to destruction, they are at the very
at the heart of our world’s confusion. Are they
part of history that we should preserve?
Should we destroy them because they simply run counter
against our standardized methods?
Should we preserve them to limit our impact?
Should we preserve them for their beauty? Many
intellectual and moral conflicts arise from these different
questions.
