Bench Le Doute

“Trois Histoires de Retour” is a set of benches made from the wood
made from the wood of the Hôtel de Breteuil,
acquired by the Archives nationales in 1862.
Following a project to renovate the building’s attic space, the Archives nationales asked Atelier Musset to restore these timbers to their original position as furniture.

Determination in its form as well as in its multiple feet
symbolizing doubt in a quest for stability
and balance.
It’s about questioning one’s legitimacy and the right to return.
